Both intense pulsed light (IPL) and laser hair removal machines weaken hair follicles by manipulating light until they are unable to regrow. The light is absorbed by the melanin (called melanin) in the hair follicle where it is converted into heat. This damages the hair follicle to permanently stop regrowth.
